Red Dawn Communications Signs Asiatainment to Entertainment Division
Asiatainment is helmed by multi-talented Edmund Chen Zhicai

Singapore, 10 March 2009 – Red Dawn Communications announced today that Asiantainment, an entertainment company has signed with the agency as a client. Helmed by multi-talented actor Edmund Chen Zhicai, Asiatainment has appointed Red Dawn Communications to oversee endorsement and sponsorship projects, as well as handle media relations in Asia.
Asiatainment will focus on developing entertainment projects for the Asian region as well as providing consultancy services for companies looking to develop content for television, film and the Internet.
One of Singapore’s most iconic faces on national television for more than twenty years, Edmund is also a director, producer, host, singer, an award winning designer and an entrepreneur in addition to being Hollywood’s newest action star, with a starring role opposite Smalleville’s Kristin Kreuk in “Street Fighter – The Legend of Chun Li”. In the film, Edmund plays Xiang, the father of the film’s heroine Chun Li, played by Kristin.
He has under his belt more than 70 television serials, 11 movies, 4 albums, 4 publications and numerous productions and designs. His most recent drama role is the sequel of one of Singapore’s most popular local drama – Perfect Cut (Season 2) – where he stars as a plastic surgeon who turns on the heat on a colleague when they compete both for the love of a woman as well as in their careers.
To date, Edmund has starred in 11 feature films including Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, Danny and Oxide Pang’s hit horror The Eye & Warner Bros’ Turn Left Turn Right opposite Leon Lai. His other films include Saigon Eclipse the Singaporean feature Where Got Problem;. and the Canadian feature Yellow Wedding, which had its world premiere at the Montreal World Film Festival, opened the Vancouver Asian Film Festival and premiered at the 43rd Asia Pacific Festival in Taiwan.
He has also directed 2 short films What Goes Round Comes Round (9 min 16 mm, USA) and Reclaims (15min 35mm, Sabah)
On stage, Edmund made his Mandarin theatre debut in the controversial Private Parts and played the title lead in King Ashoka. He also made his English theatre debut as Ben, a history teacher in Michael Chiang’s My Lonely Tarts.
As a singer, Edmund was nominated Best Newcomer, by a top local radio station and has performed in numerous concerts and made special guest appearances around the region. He also co-produced his Spanish album with Simon Napier Bell (Manager of Wham!). To date, he has 4 albums to his name - I Love Your Smile Expression (which was nominated in the Golden Hits Awards), Hidden Truth, Switch and Shouldn’t Have Let You Go.
With his strong command of English and Mandarin, Edmund was specially flown to Atlanta, USA as an official spokesperson and presenter of the 1996 Olympics. As a host, he has anchored various magazines and informative programmes like City Beat Singapore and Code Red. He was also invited by Panama Television Station to co-host Stylos, a prime time travel documentary. Edmund has also participated in a stunt show / fly-over the Singapore National Stadium for the Singapore Buddhist Association and has produced various charity events whose guests-of-honor includes foreign and local celebrities.
As an event producer, Edmund conceptualized Journey Forgotten- the first and only multi media event combining “live” entertainment together with visual, aural and olfactory elements. He was also responsible for the spectacular Sutra Harbour “water-screen” opening; conceptualized a fashion extravaganza for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized the first Singapore Film Industry Round Table meeting and the X Files Seminars that allowed Singaporeans to meet and interact with the producers of the popular series.
Edmund is managed worldwide by Echelon Talent Management, which also manages Maggie Q, Cheng Pei Pei, Josie Ho, Steph Song, Russell Wong and Singapore’s own Chin Han who was just in The Dark Knight.
Edmund is a dedicated father to two children and husband to one of Singapore’s most renowned actresses, Xiang Yun.
